Brava Court Sentences Three Men to Six to Eight Years in Prison for the Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 13
A court in Brava sentenced three men, aged 28 to 36, to six, seven, and eight years in prison for the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, who is pregnant.
The Brava District Court today sentenced three men to six, seven, and eight years in prison, respectively, for the crime of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, who is pregnant.
According to the court ruling, the defendants, aged 28, 31, and 36, residents of Braga and Minhoto, were found guilty of the charges.
Two of the defendants were convicted of the crime of sexual abuse of a child as a continuing offense, while the third was convicted of the same crime in its aggravated form.
The events date back to January of this year, when the case was reported. At the time, the minor was already pregnant.
Following the report, the victim was referred to the city of Praia, where she remains under the care of the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), which is monitoring her situation.
The case was heard by the Brava District Court, which handed down the guilty verdict today.
