Another individual, aged 47, also allegedly involved in the case and residing in Figueira Grande, was subjected to the coercive measures of periodic reporting to the authorities, prohibition from leaving the country, and obligation to remain on the island of Brava.
According to information gathered, following a complaint filed on the 22nd, the National Police of Cape Verde carried out investigative procedures that culminated in the discovery, in the suspects' residences, of various pieces of furniture allegedly stolen from a house located in the same locality.
The two men were arrested and presented today to the competent judicial authorities for their initial questioning and the application of the respective coercive measures.
According to the same source, the younger individual was under a suspended sentence at the time of the events, a circumstance that may have influenced the court's decision to apply the more severe measure.
The defendant remains in custody at the Brava police station, awaiting transport to the Fogo Central Prison, where he will remain until further proceedings in the judicial process.
