The initiative is part of the National Action Plan for Preventing and Combating Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents 2025, part of the National Journey program "Nós Féria Protegida", which aims to guarantee the safety of children and adolescents during the vacations.

In a press release, ICCA explains that this action reflects the government's commitment, reinforced in November 2024 with the United Nations (UN), to defend and promote the rights of children and adolescents.

The initiative is in line with target 16.2 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which seeks to eradicate all forms of violence against children.

The training workshop is aimed at the Municipal Committee and the Tourism Sector, with the aim of strengthening alliances and the system of local coordination in sharing guidelines, tools and strategies to prevent and combat sexual violence in the context of travel and tourism.

In addition, the session, which will start at 08:30 in the auditorium of the Eugénio Tavares School, in Nova Sintra, aims to promote the "Protect Campaign" during the school vacation period on the island.
