Brava City Council makes a gesture of recognition to the two athletes from Brava who shone in the Trail d'Santiago
Nova Sintra City, October 4, 2025 (Bravanews) - The Brava City Council (CMB) received with enthusiasm and pride the athletes Walter Felicidade and José Fernandes, who took the island's name to the podium at the Trail d'Santiago, one of the most prestigious mountain running events in the country and an integral part of the Cape Verde Trail Series.
The event, which brings together athletes from various islands and abroad on challenging routes through the mountains of Santiago, saw Brava stand out in a remarkable way.
Walter Felicidade was the big hero of the day.
Walter Felicidade was the great hero of the day, taking 1st place in the challenging Long Trail, with a distance of 27km. His victory is a memorable achievement that brings Brava a gold medal on the national mountain running scene.
José Fernandes, who competed in the 14km Short Trail, showed enormous grit and determination, achieving a worthy 11th place. His performance shows the potential and passion of the Bravenses for sport.
In recognition of the athletes' effort, merit and dedication, the Brava City Council organized a reception and gave symbolic financial support. Walter Felicidade was awarded 25,000$ for his remarkable victory, and José Fernandes received 10,000$ for his performance.
At the recognition ceremony held by the CMB, José Fernandes, who was unable to attend, was worthily represented by his father, a gesture that underlines family support in the athletes' journey.
