In statements to Inforpress, the president of the Brava Local Council Sónia Coelho pointed out that this activity is part of the celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, which was celebrated on May 8, and on the island the events will take place by the end of this month.
According to the same source, together with the volunteers of this institution it was decided to choose an area in the town of Furna that needed cleaning and Cadjetinha Beach was chosen, because it is very popular with people."
People go to this sea a lot to relax, but they are not aware of the harm of leaving garbage on the beach. We found a lot of garbage there, which is harmful to the sea and also to the people who go there," he said.
Sónia Coelho appealed to the common sense of all Bravenses who frequent the sea beaches not to leave their garbage at the site and to always take a bag to collect their waste before leaving the site.
"During this month, we will visit other beaches and communities, emphasizing that we have more programs to complete," he concluded.
