Etson Gonçalves "Drico" pre-qualified for National Futsal Team
Nova Sintra City, January 17, 2025 (Bravanews) - The athlete Etson Gonçalves, known in the futsal world as Drico, has been called up to the Cape Verdean Senior Men's Futsal Team, which is preparing to compete in the qualifying rounds for the 2026 African Cup of Nations (CAN) Futsal, to be held in Morocco.
Born on the island of Brava, Drico is currently one of the highlights of local futsal. With an imposing stance on the pitch, the athlete stands out for his excellent vision of the game, strong technical ability and competitive maturity, characteristics that place him among the most respected names in the sport on the island.
Lately, Drico has been representing the Matinho team, with which he has won several tournaments held in Brava. In addition to the team titles, the athlete has also won several individual awards, the result of consistent and decisive performances in the competitions he has taken part in.
The Bravense player's call-up comes as part of the national team's preparations for the first knockout round, which will be played against the Senegalese national team. The first leg is scheduled for January 23 in Cape Verde, while the second leg will take place on January 28 in Senegal.
