Burgo emphasized that, unlike other islands, Brava is not served by air. He questioned why, given this isolation, a minimum number of tickets are not reserved on ferries to and from the island. He recalled that, in the early years of Cape Verde's independence, two seats on the eight-passenger plane were specifically reserved for Brava on the Praia-São Filipe route. Furthermore, a boat from Brava transported passengers to Fogo and awaited the arrival of the plane, ensuring intermodality.

Burgo expressed his dismay that, 50 years after independence, in a country striving for medium-high development and with significantly more resources, there is a "minimal lack of sensitivity" to the "ordeal" experienced by the Brava residents. His statements highlight the ongoing frustration regarding the island's isolation and the perceived inadequacy of current transportation solutions.
