Residents of Pau denounce poor management of water distribution in the town

Cidade de Nova Sintra, February 24, 2026 (Bravanews) - Some residents of the town of Pau, on the island of Brava, have approached Bravanews to denounce what they consider to be poor management of water distribution in that community. According to the complainants, the way in which the opening and closing of the supply is controlled has left several families without access to the precious liquid for more than two weeks.

According to residents, the main problem lies in the alleged poor organization on the part of those who manage the local system. "We've been practically without water for more than 15 days," said one resident, adding that the situation has caused serious disruption to families' daily lives.

The complainants also claim that the current distribution model is mainly benefiting people who live near the reservoir, while residents in more distant areas face great difficulties in obtaining water.

"Those who live near the reservoir get water more often. Those of us who are further away wait and often nothing arrives," complained another resident heard by Bravanews.

The affected population is asking for urgent intervention from the competent authorities, in order to guarantee greater fairness and transparency in the distribution process, preventing part of the community from continuing to suffer.

So far, Bravanews has had no official reaction from those responsible for local water management. In the meantime, residents say they hope the situation will be resolved quickly, warning that the prolonged lack of water is affecting basic living conditions in the town of Pau.
