Morabeza da Brava organizes Djudjuca Cup in honour of João Alves, a key figure in Brava and national soccer
On September 7 and 14, the island of Brava will host the Djudjuca Cup, a soccer tournament in honor of João Alves, affectionately known as "Djudjuca", a key figure in Cape Verdean sport.

Born on the island of Fogo, Djudjuca built much of his legacy in Brava, where he wore the colors of clubs like Morabeza, Nô Pintcha and Sporting, leaving an unforgettable mark on local soccer. His talent also led him to Botafogo, a club with which he won the national championship, as well as representing Cape Verde at the highest level in the national team.
Beyond the pitch, João Alves contributed to the Brava community as an employee of the Brava City Council, and is remembered not only as an athlete, but also as a man of commitment, dedication and public service.
The tournament is organized by the Morabeza team, with the support of the Brava City Council and the Brava Regional Football Association, and comes as a way of recognizing Djudjuca's career and the impact he left on Brava sport and society.
