Nuias accompanies Francis on visit to the USA
The mayor of São Filipe - and Francisco Carvalho's opponent in the internal elections - Nuias Silva, is accompanying the PAICV leader on his visit to the United States, which will take place between January 29 and February 1. "A moment of listening, dialogue and mobilization", the visit will put to rest the narratives about an alleged "internal division" in the party.
Nuias Silva, mayor of São Filipe and opponent of Francisco Carvalho in last year's internal elections, is accompanying the leader of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) on his visit to the United States of America (USA), which begins next Thursday, February 29, and continues until February 1.
The visit to the diaspora in the USA has its high point in a "special meeting" organized by the PAICV branch in Brockton, a city in the state of Massachusetts with a large Cape Verdean community.
Considering that the diaspora is a fundamental part of the Cape Verdean nation, the PAICV leader intends to listen to the community in a meeting that will be mainly about listening and mobilizing the militancy for the upcoming electoral battle.
"This will be a moment of listening, dialogue and mobilization. The diaspora is a fundamental part of Cape Verde, because of its economic, social and cultural contribution, but also because of its voice, its ideas and the strength it has always had at decisive moments in our history," says Francisco Carvalho, adding that "the work doesn't stop, because the fight for a Cape Verde For All takes place every day, in the country and in the diaspora."

In addition to Nuias Silva, the PAICV president is accompanied by the party's parliamentary leader, Clóvis Silva, "in a clear sign of commitment, determination and continuous work", says Francisco Carvalho.
Nuias Silva's presence on the visit to the USA demolishes the narratives about an alleged "internal division" in the party and underlines that it is time to "share paths" and strengthen the "unity around a fairer, more democratic country with opportunities for all", as Francisco Carvalho points out.
