PAICV proposes solutions for transport and health on the island of Brava
The PAICV presented proposals for the island of Brava focused on transportation, health and the development of the primary sector, advocating immediate improvements in maritime connections and greater access to medical care. The party also highlighted the need to create opportunities for young people and strengthen professional training.
The PAICV presented a set of proposals for the island of Brava on Saturday night in Nova Sintra, focusing on the transport and health sectors. The announcement was made by the party's president, Francisco Carvalho, who classified these areas as priorities for local development.
In statements to Inforpress, the party leader said that the problem of maritime transport could be solved in his first 30 days in office. The proposal foresees the introduction of a ship with a daily overnight stay at the Port of Furna, a measure that aims to guarantee more regular connections between the island of Brava and other islands.
In the field of health, Francisco Carvalho defended the implementation of specialized consultations on the island, with the aim of improving the population's access to medical care and reducing the need to travel to other locations.
The leader also addressed the state of the primary sector, pointing out difficulties in the areas of fishing, agriculture and livestock, which he considered to be in a state of abandonment. In this context, he criticized the actions of the Ministry of Agriculture and proposed the resumption of rural development, with investment in technical training to increase the productivity and profitability of these activities.
Another point highlighted was access to water, considered essential for the sustainable development of the primary sector. He stressed that the availability of water resources is a determining factor in boosting local production.
The situation of young people was also addressed, with the PAICV leader warning of emigration due to the lack of opportunities and stability in the job market. In response, he advocated the creation of incentives through technical, university and professional training, in line with the demands of the market.
The legislative elections on May 17 will see the participation of five parties - PAICV, MpD, UCID, PTS and PP - vying for 72 seats in the National Assembly, spread across 13 constituencies. In the last elections, held in April 2021, the MpD won an absolute majority with 38 deputies, followed by the PAICV with 30 and the UCID with four.
