Pawtucket hosts Mayor of Brava and strengthens international ties
The city of Pawtucket, in the state of Rhode Island (USA), in the person of its Mayor Donald Grebien, highlighted its pride in continuing to build meaningful connections on a global level, by officially welcoming the Mayor of Brava, Amândio Semedo de Brito, during his visit to the United States.
In a statement, the Pawtucket City Council stressed that the presence of the Bravense mayor represents another step in the consolidation of relations between communities that share deep cultural histories and ties. "Pawtucket is proud to continue building meaningful connections around the world and strengthening the ties that bind communities together. It was an honor to host Amândio Semedo de Brito, Mayor of Brava, during his visit to the United States," says the note.
The visit is part of a drive to strengthen relations between municipalities and to value the Cape Verdean diaspora living in the United States, particularly in Rhode Island, where there is a significant community of Brava origin.
