Clube Desportivo Benfica de Nossa Senhora do Monte, 30 years of history, passion and perseverance
Cidade de Nova Sintra, March 9, 2026 (Bravanews) - The Benfica Sports Club of Nossa Senhora do Monte, on the island of Brava, is today one of the local sporting references and a symbol of community dedication. Founded in the 1995/1996 sports season, the club was born out of the desire of a group of young people and sportsmen from the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte who dreamed of raising the level of soccer and sport in the community.
At its inception, the project had a clear objective, to create opportunities for young people, keeping them involved in healthy sporting activities, while promoting personal development, team spirit and the values of discipline and responsibility.
Over its 30 years of existence, Clube Desportivo Benfica has taken part in practically every federated competition organized on the island of Brava, becoming a constant presence in regional soccer.
For 29 years, despite the effort and dedication of the players, managers and fans, the club failed to win the Brava regional soccer championship. Even so, the team never stopped competing, showing remarkable resilience and keeping the passion for soccer alive in the parish.
This persistence has transformed the club into a true sporting heritage of Nossa Senhora do Monte, being recognized for its role in mobilizing youth and boosting the social life of the community.
The year in which the club celebrates its 30th anniversary is a particularly symbolic moment for the institution and its supporters. After almost three decades of trying, Benfica de Nossa Senhora do Monte is experiencing a remarkable season, nurturing the dream of finally achieving the much-desired title.
More than results, the club's history shows that soccer can be a force for unity and hope, capable of mobilizing an entire parish around a common ideal.
Today, three decades after its foundation, the Clube Desportivo Benfica de Nossa Senhora do Monte continues to represent pride, identity and passion for sport, keeping alive the mission that was at its origin: to serve the youth and dignify soccer on the island of Brava.
