Teachers demand answers: Where do our discounts go?
How long will teachers have to work, have their pay docked, and still fight to access their own rights?
This is a question that needs to be asked out loud.
Every month, teachers who work for the state, whether they are service-providing teachers or teachers with permanent contracts, see a significant portion of their income deducted for INPS (National Social Security Institute) and IUR (Income Tax).
In many cases, we are talking about amounts that are around 17,000$00 per month.
Thousands of escudos are taken from workers every month.
And the question is simple:
Where is this money going?
If the discounts are mandatory and legal, where are the corresponding rights?
How can we explain that there are teachers with permanent contracts who continue to have their salaries delayed, some without their official appointments published in the Official Gazette, while their families also end up suffering?
How do you explain to a teacher who works, fulfills their obligations, and suffers deductions every month that, when they need to use public health services, they and their children may encounter difficulties or not have effective access to the services that should be guaranteed?
This needs an explanation.
We're not asking for favors.
We are talking about rights.
Teachers should not only be remembered when they need to be in a classroom. They cannot be considered workers only when it's time to deduct pay and then forgotten when it's time to enjoy the rights resulting from those deductions.
If amounts are deducted from our salary every month, we want to know:
Where does this money go?
Why are there difficulties in accessing INPS services?
Why are there teachers with delayed salaries?
Why are there teachers with permanent contracts whose appointments have not been published in the Official Gazette?
Who will take responsibility for resolving these situations?
What concrete solution will be presented to the teachers and their families?
And I leave a question especially for the responsible entities:
If the teacher has deductions made from their salary every month, why can't the teacher and their children fully enjoy the rights that these deductions should guarantee?
We don't want silence.
We don't want vague answers.
We don't want to be passed from one service to another without a solution.
We want clarification and we want solutions.
This publication is not against anyone. It is in favor of teachers, their families, and respect for their rights.
Therefore, we appeal to the Ministry of Education, the INPS (National Institute of Social Security), the Ministry of Finance, and other competent entities to seriously consider this situation and publicly clarify what is happening.
To the teachers: don't be afraid to ask questions.
If there are discounts, there must be rights.
If there is work, there must be a salary.
If there is a definitive contract, the corresponding legal procedures must be respected.
If contributions are made to INPS (National Institute of Social Security), there should be access to the rights provided for therein.
The teacher cannot continue to pay and, at the same time, receive no answers.
Let this message reach the media, trade unions, members of parliament, government officials, and all those who can help find a solution.
SHARE IT.
The more people who are aware of this reality, the greater the likelihood that someone with a sense of responsibility will listen and act.
TEACHERS DESERVE RESPECT.
The families of teachers deserve respect.
Our rights deserve to be respected.
WE WANT ANSWERS.
WE WANT TRANSPARENCY.
WE WANT JUSTICE.
WE WANT SOLUTIONS.
