What bothers me most about Cape Verdean politics is not just the flaws - it's the defenders of those flaws. They act as if they were blind, deaf or simply disconnected from reality. What should be serious governance has become nothing more than a comedy - a soap opera disguised as leadership.
I say this as someone who has run multi-million dollar companies, worked at the heart of the business world and dealt on a daily basis with people who know what real progress is.
So I can't understand how anyone can, with a straight face, defend a country that doesn't even have the bare minimum - a spare tire for an outdated plane that, under normal circumstances, shouldn't even be carrying passengers.
And yet they argue. They try to convince us that this is "progress". Zero multiplied by zero will never be anything other than zero.
If you want to talk about progress, show results. Show infrastructure. Show competence. Otherwise, spare us the excuses. Don't insult my intelligence with empty words and political theater.
