Another rockslide blocks the access road to Fajã d’Água
Nova Sintra, September 20, 2026 (Bravanews) — Another rockfall has once again blocked the road leading to the town of Fajã d’Água, causing traffic disruptions. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, according to reports from drivers who regularly use the road.
According to reports, a large number of rocks broke loose from the hillside and fell onto the road, partially blocking the way and preventing normal traffic flow for some time.
Faced with this situation, the drivers who were at the scene took it upon themselves to remove the rocks that were scattered across the road. Their efforts cleared the road and restored traffic.
The rockfall once again drew attention to safety conditions along that stretch of road, especially in areas where there are slopes close to the road and where new landslides or rockfalls may occur.
According to available information, the situation was resolved without the need for formal intervention, thanks to the efforts of the road users themselves. To date, there have been no reports of injuries or vehicle damage related to the incident.
Today, traffic on the road to Fajã d’Água is flowing normally after the rocks were removed. Drivers, however, are advised to exercise extra caution when passing through the area, especially due to the possibility of further rockfalls.
