Fogo Island: Consignment contract for the asphalting of nine urban roads in the city of São Filipe

The act of consignment was celebrated by the mayor of São Filipe and the director of Elevo, in one of the streets of the city that will be asphalted.

On the occasion, Nuías Silva said that it is with "great satisfaction" that the city council is assigning the asphalting of nine streets in the center and some arteries of the city of São Filipe, stressing that they are structural works with a municipal investment that amounts to the 104 thousand contos and that will reconfigure the city's urban structure.

“We are going to start with the street that goes from Ponte de Lém to the São Francisco de Assis Regional Hospital, taking into account that it is one of the most requested roads and that it has a very high degree of deterioration and it is important to maintain it”, said the mayor, adding that from the 24th of July the company has a period of five months to deliver the nine paved streets, with sidewalks and horizontal signage.

According to him, there are nine streets that will complement the requalification works of the historic city center and give a new vision to São Filipe, stressing that the city council will be “quite rigorous” in inspection and that from the last day of the five months starts to count the fines, which is the only way to be able to defend the best interests of the municipality.

Inspection, he added, will pay close attention to providing the contractor with all the necessary conditions to respond, in time, to all requests and, to this end, the city council will reinforce the Technical Support Office to be able to densify its skills and supervise all the process

“Before this act of consignment, we made an advance on the price to Elevo, in order to have all the financial conditions to start the works, in an amount in excess of 30 million escudos. We have full funding for this work and we will not delay any day the measurement records duly proven to make the transfer of funds", guaranteed Nuías Silva who, therefore, was convinced that, in the month of December, all nine lanes will be paved for people's satisfaction.

The roads to be paved are those of the old power plant, the São Francisco de Assis Regional Hospital (from Lém), Cruz Vermelha/Cobom square to Xaguate, Central School, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Trás de Shell to Santa Filomena, Bar Fixe to Cruz dos Passos, Shell/Alto da Aguadinha to Pé de Campo and Sucupira to the roundabout of the National Police station.

The director general of Elevo Cabo Verde, José Armando Moreira said that Elevo's objective is to help Cape Verde as much as possible through all state entities and that is why it is in São Filipe for yet another undertaking.
