MpD presents list of candidates in Brava with a focus on local commitment.

The Movement for Democracy (MpD) presented its list of candidates for the upcoming legislative elections on Wednesday on Brava Island, highlighting a team that, according to the party leadership, is strongly connected to the local reality.

The president of the MpD party, Ulisses Correia e Silva , stated that the candidates represent a team "committed to the Island" and prepared to defend the interests of the people of Brava in Parliament. The statement was made after the official presentation of the candidacy.

During his speech, the MpD leader emphasized the candidates' closeness to the population, stating that they are people who "are here, come from here, and will stay," alluding to their local roots and direct knowledge of the challenges faced by the island.

Ulisses Correia e Silva further argued that this connection should not be merely circumstantial, limited to the electoral period, but rather continuous, promoting a political representation that is closer and more present in the communities.

On that occasion, the president of the MpD also reaffirmed the Government's commitment to investments considered a priority for Brava, namely in the sectors of maritime transport, health and water desalination.

Among the measures announced are the commissioning of a new boat for the Fogo-Brava route, expected to arrive in the country between May and June, the start of construction on a new Health Center, and the arrival of a cargo ship to strengthen inter-island connections.

The MpD leader also highlighted the need for affirmative action policies for the island, proposing tax and financial incentives to attract investment and boost local economic development.
