The Brava City Council warns of an increase in improper waste disposal and calls on the entire community to act responsibly

The improper disposal of trash outside designated areas has direct and immediate consequences for the population. The local government emphasized that the accumulation of waste in inappropriate locations encourages the proliferation of pests harmful to health, such as insects and rodents, in addition to generating unbearable odors and damaging the image and visual appearance of the island’s neighborhoods. In the document, the official in charge of the Environment and Sanitation portfolio emphasized that keeping the environment clean is a fundamental civic duty and a commitment that necessarily depends on collective effort.

To halt the progression of this situation and ensure a healthy environment for all, the City Council issued a direct appeal to each resident’s sense of responsibility, recommending a set of essential best practices. Among the guidelines provided, residents are asked to always use the designated containers and locations for waste disposal, strictly adhere to the days and times set for municipal collection, and avoid at all costs turning public spaces and the areas surrounding homes into open-air dumps.

Alongside this appeal to citizens, the municipality has assured that it will continue to strengthen environmental awareness campaigns and on-site enforcement throughout the municipality. However, the municipality reiterates that the success of this mission will only be possible with the active and ongoing collaboration of the entire community.
