Alberto Pereira Rodrigues chosen to head PAICV list for the Americas

An immigrant for many years, Alberto Rodrigues is a well-known figure within the Cape Verdean community in the United States, particularly in the state of Rhode Island, where he has done consistent political and community work over the years. His selection by the National Political Commission is seen by many activists as recognition of his work with the emigrant communities and his dedication to the party.

In a brief contact with Bravanews, Alberto Pereira Rodrigues said that he received the choice with a sense of responsibility and guaranteed that he will continue to work with the same commitment and dedication that have always marked his political and community career. According to the candidate, his priority will continue to be defending the interests of Cape Verdean emigrants, strengthening the link between the diaspora and Cape Verde, and valuing the role of communities in the country's development.

A PAICV militant for many years, Rodrigues leads the party's Rhode Island branch, where he has been one of the most active voices in mobilizing the Cape Verdean community, promoting social and cultural initiatives and advocating for greater attention to emigration issues, such as documentation, diaspora investments, transportation, education and institutional ties with Cape Verde.

The choice of Alberto Pereira Rodrigues as head of the list in the Americas comes at a time when the diaspora constituency is gaining more and more political importance, given the weight of Cape Verdean emigrants and their economic and social contribution to the country, namely through remittances and investments.
