Brava: Feast of Nossa Senhora do Monte marked with procession and solemn mass
The feast of Nossa Senhora do Monte, patroness of the parish of the same name, which is celebrated on Tuesday, 15th, will be marked with a procession and mass in honor of the saint, said the parish priest of Ilha Brava.
Friar José Garcia stressed that the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte will experience a “moment of thanksgiving for the gift of the patroness” on this day.
Regarding the program, he added that the highlight is the Eucharistic celebration on the 15th, but, on the eve, as an individual and community preparation, the church proposes a moment of personal prayer and intimacy with the Lord in the home of a family in the town of Mato, who will receive the image for this moment and where it will remain until the beginning of the 15th, from where the procession will begin to the center of Nossa Senhora do Monte, stage of the Eucharistic celebration.
The celebration of the rosary on the eve, according to the parish priest, is the “Marian prayer” to give the dimension of the Marian feast to be celebrated on the 15th.
The Brave society asked that everyone feel part of the church, emphasizing that the head of the church is Christ and that everyone is invited to see Mary as one of the members of this church, just as they are invited to take part in this feast of parish celebration of Nossa Lady of Mt.
On the 15th, the 8th anniversary of the elevation of the parish to the category of town is also celebrated.
Normally, in addition to religious activities, sports, cultural and leisure activities are organized, but this year, the mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, announced that there will be none of these cultural activities or a musical show, and that the autarchy will support the church in carrying out religious activities.
