Brava: 41-year-old man drowns in a tank in Lomba Tantum
A 41-year-old man drowned, this Friday, 1st, in a tank in the Ferreiro area located in the town of Lomba Tamtum, local authorities and residents confirmed. The individual, named Nelson Monteiro, better known as “Bruce”, as reported by a neighbor, Claudia da Rosa, was last seen on Thursday afternoon when he was looking for soap to wash his clothes.
“ Since then he has not been seen again and, this Friday morning, I learned that a neighbor found a body inside the tank, which was identified as the corpse of our friend Bruce ”, he highlighted.
Cláudia da Rosa asked the competent authorities to order the aforementioned tank to be closed as Bruce is the second person to lose his life there.
Speaking to the media, the person responsible for the island's Civil Protection and Fire Department confirmed what happened, highlighting that they were contacted by residents, informing them that the man was found dead inside the tank.
“ We then contacted the National Police and the Health Department who, together with the Public Prosecutor's Office in the municipality, went to the scene to collect the body. We really noticed that a few hours had already passed since the victim died, due to drowning ”, he informed.
Therefore, the prosecutor gave the order for the body to be handed over to the family, who, however, received instructions from the doctors that the body would have to be buried, at most, two hours later, taking into account that the man died at night and was only found the next morning.”
