The pharmacist and responsible for the 8th mission of St. Paul Medical Services, in Brava, Bishoy, defended the need for a dentist at all times on the island, since the dental problem is the “Achilles heel” of the population.

This person in charge made this statement in an interview with Inforpress, at the end of the consultations, this weekend, where he added that more than 300 people were attended to on Sunday alone.

This time, the mission arrived on the island with a general practitioner, an orthopedist, an otorhinolaryngologist, the pharmacist and two dentists.

According to Bishoy, in addition to providing consultations for only one day, each doctor treated about 80 people, and the “biggest concern” of this mission since arriving on the island is the dental issue.

So much so that in all the missions they carry out they try to include dentists and stomatologists in the team.

Taking this into account, although the dentist Emad stressed that this time the situation was less worrying, the person in charge demonstrated the availability of the mission to support the health department with materials to equip a stomatology room.

On the island, the “majority” of people have problems with their teeth, but there is only one private dental clinic and the dentist only comes to the island once at the end of the month, for a week.

This scenario makes it difficult for many people to undergo dental treatment.

Despite the availability of the mission to support the issue of dental equipment, in September 2018, in another mission carried out to the island, the responsible Rasha Gamil in an interview with Inforpress said that they had a meeting with the Ministry of Health (MS), in the sense of to establish contacts and have permission to equip the Health Department on the island with equipment and a complete operating room, but they still haven't had a decision.

In addition to the consultations, this entourage provides free of charge the medicines necessary for the treatment.

The mission returns to the country again, on its 15th mission and 8th to Brava in November.
