Brava: UNICA students make a “positive assessment” of the health fair but indicate poor participation by the population

Students from the Intercontinental University of Cabo Verde, who promoted a health fair in Nova Sintra today, made a “positive assessment” of the event, although they highlighted the poor adherence of the population

This observation was made to Inforpress by student Lucy Amado, at the end of the fair, during which they assisted 47 patients, measuring blood pressure, measuring capillary blood glucose, body mass index, some gymnastics, aerobics, massages and HIV screening .

According to the same source, the organization of the event expected a greater number of participants, but says it understands the reason for the low involvement of the population, because, as he underlined, there was no “proper disclosure”.

In turn, the health delegate on Brava, Júlio Barros, also made a “positive assessment” taking into account that it is the first time that a team of students participates in actions of this type on the island, consisting of students from the Clinical Analysis courses , Nursing, Sports and Physiotherapy.

The delegate highlighted the “great participation of men”, mainly for carrying out HIV screening tests.

For the people who participated and were served by these students, satisfaction was visible, noting that it is the first time that a group of students had such an initiative, in addition to highlighting the service provided during the fair.

Heard by Inforpress, the population that participated in the screenings and tests suggested that the group return to the island again with actions of this nature or of other nature, not failing to appeal to other educational institutions to intervene in any area, to provide support for the island and support its development process.

This action was carried out, according to the spokesperson for the group, Lucy Amado, as a way of bringing actions about health to the population of Brave.

In terms of difficulties, the same source highlighted that the biggest problem faced was the issue of tickets, but that was later overcome with the partnership of CV Interilhas.

He also spoke of the partnership with EMPROFAC, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the Municipality of Brava, the Health Department and the Ministry of Education, through the island's school delegation.
