The people of Brava were satisfied and grateful with the service provided by the Coast Guard ship on the island, mainly in the transfer of patients from Brava to Fogo Island.

Speaking to the press, Aida Veiga, from Brave, resident in the town of Furna, stressed that whenever the ship leaves port, they already know that it is a patient who is going to help and, according to her, there have been many departures.

In this regard, he considered that the stay of the ship on the island has been “very important”, especially at this time when the Brava-Fogo connection trips are increasingly irregular.

With this Coast Guard vessel, he stressed that “there is a certain tranquility”, recalling that the Health Department does not have all the conditions to meet and resolve all demands related to the transfer of patients to the Fogo Regional Hospital.

And this ship, he said, does it safely and with emergency speed.

An opinion that was also corroborated and reinforced by Odair Santos, noting that at the moment Brava has been going through bad times in terms of maritime connections.

And since there are not all treatment conditions at the Brava Health Department, the popular added anything that comes to help with health is always welcome.

On the Coast Guard vessel, whose one of the functions is to ensure the transfer of patients, he underlined that this has already saved many lives, that perhaps if it were to wait for the normal passenger boats it would not be possible given the irregularity of the trips with each passing day .

Adelino Oliveira, an emigrant who is in the town of Furna, said that "it's good to have this boat", because if he didn't have this means of transport, he doesn't know for sure what would become of the population of Brave, taking into account that it is one of the most isolated islands in the country.

“The Coast Guard boat was a godsend”, he said, warning that Brava needs more connections, because emigrants who want to come to Brava are forced to spend many days in the city of Praia on their way there and if not in advance run the risk of missing the connecting journey to the destination country.

Nana Rosário is a mother who has experienced firsthand the importance of this boat. On Tuesday, around 4:00 am, the eight-month pregnant daughter, who showed signs of premature birth on the island of Fogo, was rescued by the ship, thus saving the mother and child.

“Best thing the Government has done, because it responds to requests on time and with maximum security”, he concluded.

The vessel arrived in Brava on November 6, 2022, with a detachment consisting of 11 staff, divided into two groups, six on the ship, and 5 in the accommodation.

To date, according to information collected by Inforpress from the detachment, they have already carried out about 20 departures between transfer of patients and inspection of fishing.
