Cabo Verde Airlines launches Providence-Cape Verde flights with a strategic stopover on Sal Island

The Cape Verde Airlines has announced the opening of a new air link between Providence and Cape Verde, with a relevant operational feature: the flights will include a stopover on the island of Sal before continuing on to their final destination in the archipelago.

The operation will be carried out from T.F. Green Airport, an airport that serves one of the largest Cape Verdean communities in the United States. The choice of this city reinforces the company's strategy of capturing the demand of the diaspora concentrated in the New England region.

Different from a completely direct connection, the model adopted includes a stop in Ilha do Sal, which will act as a connection point within the country itself. This stopover allows the company to optimize flight occupancy, distribute passengers across different islands and strengthen Sal's role as an operational hub in the Atlantic.

The flights are to be operated with aircraft Boeing 737 MAX, suitable for medium-haul routes and with greater fuel efficiency. The inclusion of Sal in the itinerary also creates more logistical flexibility for domestic and international connections, as well as potentially reducing operating costs compared to point-to-point flights.

The new route comes in the context of an attempt to expand the international presence of Cape Verde Airlines, while strengthening connectivity between Cape Verde and the United States. For passengers, the stopover represents a small extension in total travel time, but offers greater accessibility to different islands and improves the integration of the national air network.
