Cabo Verde Airlines receives new Boeing 737-8 to expand connections with more destinations
Praia, 20 July 2023 - In an important milestone for Cape Verdean aviation, Cabo Verde Airlines today received its newest aircraft, the Boeing 737-8. The state-of-the-art aircraft represents a significant step forward for the airline, which plans to expand its operations and offer more travel options for passengers.
The aircraft delivery ceremony took place at Cabo Verde Airlines facilities at Nelson Mandela International Airport, in the Cape Verdean capital, and was attended by government authorities, workers and executives of the airline.
The Boeing 737-8 is a valuable addition to the Cabo Verde Airlines fleet, capable of carrying more passengers and offering greater operational efficiency on long-haul routes. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the new plane provides a more comfortable and safer flight experience for travelers.
The CEO of Cabo Verde Airlines, in a speech during the ceremony, highlighted the company's commitment to expanding Cape Verde's air connectivity with other parts of the world. "With the arrival of the Boeing 737-8, we are closer to realizing our vision of making Cape Verde an important aviation hub in the Atlantic, connecting several destinations around the globe", said the executive.
With the ability to fly longer distances efficiently, the Boeing 737-8 will allow Cabo Verde Airlines to explore new markets and add more international routes to its network. This will bring significant benefits to tourism and the country's economy, in addition to providing Cape Verdeans with more travel options.
The chairman of the board of directors of Transportes Aéreas de Cabo Verde (TACV), Sara Pires, said, for her part, that with the acquisition of this aircraft, the company will operate seven weekly flights to and from Lisbon and two weekly flights to and from Paris, from the 23rd of July.
In addition to the focus on expanding international routes, Cabo Verde Airlines also emphasized its ongoing commitment to safety and environmental sustainability, following industry best practices to minimize the environmental impact of its operations.
