Chamber provides an office and equipment for the company Desporto Brava
The Brava City Council, through the Sports department, delivered, this Wednesday, a room in the Municipal Library that will serve as the headquarters of the Desporto Brava group, to take the island's sport across borders.
In addition to providing a room in the Municipal Library, Desporto Brava, which is run by a group of young people whose aim is to promote sport in the municipality, nationally and in the diaspora, it also received financial support in the amount of 50 thousand escudos, to help with the purchase of equipment.
The handover ceremony was presided over by the Sports councilor, Mário Soares, who highlighted the great work that this group has been developing to take the island's sport beyond its borders.
“The city council, within its policy of proximity, cooperation and creation of means of incentives, signed a memorandum and provided a room that will serve as the group's official office. Before they didn't have a physical space to carry out their work, but they were doing a good job, which caught the council's attention to support the group”, he highlighted.
Mário Soares guaranteed that the city council is showing its total availability to discuss other “beneficial” projects for sport in Brava and young people in general.
In turn, the spokesperson for the Desporto Brava group, Napoleão Gomes, praised the municipality's gesture and highlighted that it was the realization of a dream for the group, but also for the island.
“This gesture from the city council will give Brava athletes more persistence and visibility and will also make them better known nationally and in the diaspora, ensuring that they have their due values”, he stressed.
Napoleão Gomes also said that they have already presented a project to the city council, showing their willingness to organize a sports gala on the island, at the end of the municipality's football season.
“Those responsible have already started to analyze this project and everyone has confirmed their support and guaranteed that they will help with this proposal.
We want to encourage athletes and give them their due, because we know that our island has athletes with great quality and ability”, he concluded.
