Cape Verde launches Skodji Digital program to integrate young people into the global economy

Cabo Verde Digital has announced the implementation of the Skodji Digital program, a national initiative focused on training young people to participate in the global digital economy, with an emphasis on remote work and the digital services market.

The program, developed by the Government of Cape Verde in partnership with implementing entities and with financial support from the World Bank Group, took place over the past week in two of the country's main cities. The activities began at the University of Cape Verde, in the city of Praia, and ended in Mindelo.

The sessions marked the integration of hundreds of participants into a structured training course, focusing on digital skills, preparation for remote work and long-term employability. The participants came from various islands in the archipelago, and also had the virtual participation of members of the diaspora, creating an environment with varying levels of experience - from beginners to professionals already working in the digital sector.

According to the organizers, the program includes a continuous follow-up system, with dedicated channels to ensure retention, progression and practical application of the skills acquired. In addition to technical training, networking activities, team collaboration and presentations were promoted, with the aim of fostering learning communities among the participants.

One of the highlights was the presentation of success stories by former participants who now work remotely for international companies, serving as concrete proof of the opportunities available in the global market.

Skodji Digital positions itself as a bridge between training and employment, connecting local talent with international opportunities. Those responsible stress that preparing young people for remote work is a strategic priority, allowing access to income and professional experience without the need to emigrate.

The initiative should help strengthen Cape Verde's digital economy by creating a globally competitive workforce. The organizers stress that this launch represents only the beginning of an ongoing process, with participants continuing their training over the coming months, applying skills in real contexts and moving on to professional opportunities in the digital sector.
