Clóvis Silva, PAICV MP for the island of Brava, elected new PAICV Parliamentary Leader
Praia, October 6, 2025 (Bravanews) - The African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV) has a new leader for its parliamentary caucus. Clóvis Silva, the PAICV MP for the Brava constituency, was today elected President of the PAICV Parliamentary Group, replacing João Baptista Pereira, who had held the position since 2021.

The list presented by Clóvis Silva for the leadership of the caucus also won strong approval. Out of 29 voters, the list was approved with 26 votes in favor, only 2 abstentions and 1 vote against.
The new board will be made up of the following Vice-Presidents, Adélsia Almeida (elected), Luis Pires (elected), Carla Lima (remains in office) and António Fernandes (remains in office).
The appointment of Clóvis Silva and the new composition of the board mark a new phase in the leadership of the PAICV caucus in Parliament, which is now preparing for the challenges of the new legislative session.
