City of Nova Sintra, August 20, 2026 (Bravanews) - Member of Parliament Maria Antónia Alves was received on a courtesy and working visit by the Mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito. The high-level meeting had as its central purpose the alignment of strategies to boost the socio-economic development of the island and strengthen the articulation between local government and the national sphere.
During the meeting, the parliamentarian expressed her full willingness to build a solid and continuous institutional cooperation relationship. In statements to Bravanews, Maria Antónia Alves stressed the importance of creating a direct link between the demands and aspirations of the people of Brava and the sovereign bodies, ensuring that the island's specificities have an active voice and constant representation in the national political debate.
The meeting's agenda allowed the congresswoman to learn in detail about the municipality's main priorities, the constraints faced by the local administration, and the portfolio of ongoing projects. Special emphasis was placed on initiatives considered priorities for the development of Brava that currently depend on technical approval and funding from the Central Government.
According to the deputy, as a result of this dialogue, a joint work agenda was established between the deputy and the municipal team led by Amândio Brito. This commitment aims to ensure rigorous monitoring and the unblocking of the most urgent matters for the island, reinforcing the commitment of both parties to work in a coordinated manner to meet the needs of the community.
