Brava court applies periodic presentation to three suspected child sex abusers
The Brava District Court today ordered that three individuals accused of committing crimes of sexual abuse of minors aged 14 and 15 be brought before the authorities on a regular basis, a judicial source said.
According to the same source, the defendants, aged between 17 and 19, who live in the towns of Cachaço and Matinho, are suspected of being involved in cases where the victims are pregnant.
The court also ordered a mandatory stay on the island and in the country, as well as a ban on contact with the victims, while the trial is ongoing.
In the context of another judicial process on the island of Brava, a 30-year-old man, resident in Nova Sintra, was also brought before the judicial authorities, indicted for the crimes of theft and slaughter of animals.
The defendant was given the measures of periodic presentation to the authorities, a ban on leaving the island and the country and a ban on selling meat during the proceedings.
