Court orders pre-trial detention for a man accused of drug trafficking
On Saturday, 27, the District Court of the island of Brava ordered the pre-trial detention of a 25-year-old man from the island of Santiago, suspected of committing the crime of high-risk drug trafficking.
According to information, the individual was arrested last Thursday, the 25th, during a search carried out in Porto da Furna, where the authorities found a certain amount of hashish in his possession, and the illicit substance was seized on the spot.
After being brought before the judicial authorities, the court considered that the legal conditions for the application of the most severe coercive measure were met, taking into account the seriousness of the crime and the risks associated with drug trafficking.
The case is now proceeding according to the law, while the accused awaits the next developments in pre-trial detention in the civil jail on the island of Fogo
