Brava City Council has already defined a set of activities that will be carried out to raise the awareness of citizens in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, with an amount made available by the Government, financed by Luxembourgish cooperation.

This information was given to Inforpress by mayor Francisco Tavares, who explained that of the amount obtained by the executive, his municipality was allocated around two 2.3 million escudos.

And with this amount, the city council defined some activities, divided into five areas of intervention.

In the first area, dedicated to informing and raising awareness among residents about covid-19, around 600,000 escudos will be injected to operate a sound car with messages, make leaflets and posters, and raise awareness in localities.

Another area contemplated is sanitation and disinfection, where the mayor stressed that it is intended to continue with the disinfection of cargo arriving at the port of Furna and buildings or public spaces if justified, as well as the disinfection of dwellings if necessary. .

For the informal sector, Francisco Tavares informed that the sum of 800 million escudos is destined, where a subsidy will be attributed to those who have not received Social Solidarity Income from the Government so far and who are in the informal sector, as well as a subsidy for anyone who is prevented from carrying out any informal activity if they have contracted covid-19.

In addition, within this same sector, funds will be made available for various types of support to personnel in the informal sector, such as the purchase of alcohol gel, masks and gloves, among others.

Of this amount, there is still another area to be benefited, which is the issue of logistics to implement the measures issued by the Government.

In this area, Francisco Tavares advanced that they will continue with the inspection of the beaches and natural pools, as well as bear the expenses with isolation outside the homes of those affected.

He also underlined that there will be funding for a washbasin, alcohol gel for buildings and public spaces that are very frequented and the acquisition of equipment for measuring body temperature.

Finally, the last area pointed out by the mayor is that of Civil Protection, where he stressed that five volunteer agents will be hired to reinforce this service until December 31st, and this amount includes financing for fuel for the displacement of Civil Protection and the awareness.

He also stressed that a committee was created in the municipality to verify the implementation of the measures issued by the city council and the Government on covid-19, which will also have its costs.
