Brava District Court decrees pre-trial detention for drug trafficking
A 37-year-old man was placed in pre-trial detention in Brava after the National Police seized cocaine in his bar. The case remains under investigation.
The Brava District Court today ordered the pre-trial detention of a 37-year-old man suspected of committing the crime of high-risk drug trafficking.
According to the information gathered, the measure of coercion was applied after an operation by the National Police, carried out last Friday, following several complaints involving the suspect.
During the operation, the authorities carried out a search and seizure at the individual's home in Tomé Barraz, where nothing was found. However, in the bar belonging to the individual, a certain quantity of illicit substances was discovered, later confirmed as cocaine.
The case remains under investigation, while the suspect will remain in pre-trial detention until the case is concluded. The detainee is currently at the Brava police station and will be transferred to the civil jail on the island of Fogo.
