Fogo: Águabrava General Assembly meets today to analyze the issue of water bottling and election of governing bodies

On Thursday, the board of directors of Águabrava met, which analyzed the issue of accounts for the year 2022 and the plan of activities and budget for 2023, matters that, according to the chairman of the board of directors, Nuías Silva, will be submitted to the general meeting for ratification.

During the general meeting, other matters will be analyzed that have to do with the life of society, such as the cases of the new project for bottling water by Águabrava, but also the possibility of it taking care of tasks related to garbage collection, through the creation of a sanitation department within Águabrava.

Nuías Silva advanced that this issue is one of the competences that has been foreseen since the creation of Águabrava and that is not being carried out and in this general meeting the shareholders, which are the municipalities of Brava, Mosteiros, Santa Catarina do Fogo and São Filipe, will analyze and define the next steps for its implementation and for this reason today's meeting will not result in any immediate execution deliberation,

The chairman of the board of directors said that the election of the company's new bodies is a reality, taking into account that the mandate of the current board of directors has already expired, but it did not matter if it will be a "renewal in continuity or if it will be a new board of directors" , since everything will depend on the proposals that the shareholders bring to the meeting.

One of Águabrava's biggest bets since 2020 is bottling and marketing water from the source of Monte Vermelho (Mosteiros) or from the hole in Monte Grito, between the city of São Filipe and the port of Vale dos Cavaleiros, which implies the installation of a water bottling unit.

A technical and economic feasibility study was carried out last year and based on this study, shareholders will be able to decide on Águabrava to proceed with this project for the installation of a bottling unit.

It should be recalled that the company made a major investment in reactivating the exploitation of water from the Monte Vermelho spring, which had been inoperative for over two years, mobilizing over 400 cubic meters of water per day for the municipality of Mosteiros.

Monte Vermelho water has good qualities to be bottled since in terms of total salts (conductivity) it has 260 microsiemens per centimeter when the recommended maximum is two thousand microsiemens and has all the conditions to be bottled and marketed.
