The Cape Verdean national team beat Cameroon 1-0 in Praia today in the eighth match of Group D for the 2026 World Cup and strengthened their lead in the fight for their unprecedented qualification for the World Cup.

The goal, which clinched the victory for the Blue Sharks "the name by which the Cape Verdean national team is known", was scored in the 53rd minute, through a solo effort by striker Dailon Livramento, who, after leaving three opponents in his wake, beat goalkeeper Onana, much to the delight of the home crowd.

With the National Stadium completely full, around 15,000 spectators, Cape Verde initially lined up with Vozinha, Steven Moreira, Roberto Lopes "Pico", Diney Borges, João Paulo Fernandes, Kevin Pina, Yannick Semedo, Ryan Mendes "cap", Telmo Arcanjo, Jovane Cabral and Dailon Livramento.

Cameroon entered with Andre Onana, N. Tolo, Boyokomo, C. Wooh, J. Tchatchoua, C.Nkoudou, Carlos Baleba, Aboubakar, Bryan Mbeumo, Martin Hongla and Zambo Anguis.
