The former Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, has been made a defendant in a case in which he is suspected of committing crimes of influence peddling and active corruption, allegedly committed during the course of his duties in the municipality.

According to information provided by OPAÍS, Tavares is due to be heard this Friday at the Brava Court, at a hearing scheduled for 3pm. The case is currently being investigated, and the Public Prosecutor's Office is taking steps to clarify the facts.

In addition to the former mayor, the former Municipal Secretary and a businessman from the construction sector on the island of Brava have also been charged in the same case. The authorities indicate that the investigations are continuing and no further details of the case have been released so far.

The hearing follows a search of the former mayor's home, which resulted in the seizure of computer equipment, including a computer, a cell phone, and various documents considered relevant to the investigation.

On Thursday, Francisco Tavares and the other two people were arrested by the authorities as part of the same case.
