IDJ promotes first "IDJ in Kumunidade" activity in Nova Sintra

In statements to the media, the IDJ delegate for the Fogo/Brava region, Adileuza Montrond, explained that this is the first edition of the activity, which was initially planned to take place earlier, but which has only now been possible.

Secondly, the aim of the initiative is to bring IDJ closer to the population, bringing the institution closer to the communities.

"'IDJ na Kumunidade' is about bringing the institution closer to the people", he said, adding that during the event a diverse range of activities were held, namely sports practices, a health fair and exhibitions by different institutions.

According to the same source, the program included conversation circles on topics considered a priority by the community, such as gender-based violence (GBV) and sexual violence against minors.

"These are topics that the communities themselves have chosen to address here today and the balance of this first edition is very positive," he said.

The delegate also reported that proposals for training in entrepreneurship had been presented and various programs that IDJ runs in the areas of sport and youth had been publicized.

"At the moment we have already identified a young person for the municipality to have an IDJ representative and we are looking for a physical space so that we can have more effective representation and respond more to the demands of youth," he said.

She also assured that the initiative "is here to stay" and announced that other programs will be held in the future, including training for monitors in various sports, such as futsal, volleyball and boxing.

For his part, the participant in the event, Mário Jorge, praised the institution's initiative, underlining IDJ's commitment to being closer to the community and demonstrating harmony with the Bravense population.

"Although the island does not yet have an IDJ office, the institution has assured us that it is working to ensure that there will soon be a local representative. IDJ currently has four branches nationwide and wants to have a focal point in every municipality," he said.

With these measures, the population, schools and organized groups are better aware of IDJ's programs and know where to turn.

Mário Jorge concluded by assuring that the presence of a technician from the institution on the island will make it possible to extend the programs and initiatives to other communities that have not yet been able to participate in the activity, bringing IDJ ever closer to Bravense youth and increasing the impact of its actions on the island.
