CAPE VERDIANA ERICA LOPES COMPETITION IN THE LARGEST WOMEN'S BEAUTY CONTEST IN THE UNITED STATES

The contest is Mrs. USA Globe 2023 whose final is scheduled for June 25 in Palm Spring, California.

Erica Lopes, 31 years old, born in the city of Praia, will represent the state of Rhode Island where she has lived since leaving Cape Verde 15 years ago.

The winner of the Mrs. USA pageant will represent the United States in Japan at the Mrs. Globe, regarded as the most prestigious international beauty pageant for women worldwide, celebrating beauty, culture and solidarity with women.

The contest is open to married women aged 25 to 44, regardless of whether they have children or not.

REALIZATION OF A DREAM

Erica says that since childhood, in Cape Verde, she dreamed of stepping on the catwalks and showing her talent as a model, but that she did not have “the necessary requirements” or “fit into the dominant standards of beauty”. As she herself says:

"I'm not skinny and I don't even have the model structures they usually demand, so I started working on my self-esteem first and trying to maintain my body".

Her body that finally caught the attention of an agency that offered her a job to let herself be photographed. From then on, Erica Lopes' career in the world of fashion gained new momentum and this year the native of Terra Branca, in the city of Praia, decided to participate in the Mrs. USA Globe, a contest that doesn't take much into account the prevailing standards of beauty feminine. Erica is the first Cape Verdean to enter this contest and the objective - she says - is to win and raise the name of Cape Verde and the United States.

“Even if I don't represent Cape Verde, I'm Cape Verdean, born and raised in the city of Praia, so I'm going to raise the name of my country worldwide”.

Mother of three children, Erica lives in the United States in the small town of Lincoln, in the state of Rhode Island, where she combines her work in the fashion world with that of a nurse, mother and wife. Good luck !
