The leader of the Parliamentary group of the African Independence Party of Cape Verde today expressed his “ concern ” and “ sadness ” with the current situation of TACV, in which the air corridor to Lisbon is up for auction due to debts .

João Baptista Pereira, reacted like this, after being questioned by the journalist, about the news from RTP, which advances that the slots, until then held by Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde to Lisbon, Portugal, are for sale.

According to the same source cited by Inforpress, at stake are TACV debts that accumulate the amount of around 211 thousand euros, more than 20 million escudos.

“ It is sad when we look at a public company where the State has already injected millions of millions, but it is still mired in problems and see that due to a debt apparently of around 20 billion escudos it cannot pay off that debt. It is a situation that makes us worried, how is it possible that this company is still having dreams of buying ”, he underlined.

According to Infrpress, João Baptista Pereira, who was speaking at a press conference, in reaction to the MpD's announcement regarding the creation of a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to analyze the management of the Tourism and Environment Funds, said that at the moment there is a “total unknown” in which only the Government and the Deputy Prime Minister know exactly where they are sending the company.

According to him, the current reality is that the country now has a company that has been advertising, draining resources from Cape Verdeans and is still mired in problems and is unable to settle a debt of around 20 million escudos .

On the occasion, he underlined that the Court of Auditors should have an audit carried out to analyze the company's situation, the amount of public debt that Cape Verde has in relation to TACV in view of the "disastrous" acts that the Government adopted in relation to this air carrier .

The same source recalls that the slots are managed by NAV – Navegação Aérea de Portugal, EPE.

The online auction, managed by an executive agency, has already started on June 19 and will run until July 12, 2023 , says Inforpress.
