According to the party, the councilor is receiving all the perks associated with the position of Full-Time Councilor, despite simultaneously serving as Chief Postmaster on the island.

According to PAICV allegations, Ivone Cardoso, in addition to receiving salaries and allowances as a full-time councilor, was recently appointed to the position of Postmaster General in Cape Verde, thus accumulating two different positions at the same time. The party accuses the Brava City Council of maintaining this arrangement in an irregular manner and questions the legality and ethics of this situation.

The situation has generated a wave of indignation and concern among Brava residents and party members. The PAICV claims that this accumulation of functions not only compromises the effectiveness in fulfilling the responsibilities associated with each position, but also represents a possible misuse of public resources.

In June, the PAICV/Brava had already warned the Court of Auditors about this serious situation in a letter, but to date the Court has not yet made a statement.

In response, the Brava City Council, through its President, stated that the Councilor works full-time. Asked to present the quarterly balance sheets where this fact can be assessed, Francisco Tavares said that the burden of proof lies with the accuser.

The population and the media await the Municipal Assembly meeting, where the quarterly reports and balance sheets of the municipal administration will be presented.

Francisco Tavares' administration has been accused of nepotism, harmful management and now this latest case of paying a full-time salary to a Councilor who holds another full-time position.

These cases raise important questions about the management of public office and compliance with the laws and regulations governing public administration in Cabo Verde. The community is closely monitoring future developments and hopes for a resolution that ensures integrity and justice in public service.
