Presentation and tasting of fish products.

As part of the “Transformation, Conservation and Marketing of Sea Products” project of the Local Employment and Employability Network of Brava, yesterday, April 6, 2023, at the Headquarters of Cooperativa de Pesca in Lomba Tantum, the presentation and tasting of products from the sea. A very ambitious project that started with the training part in 2019 with the technical and financial support of the Luxembourg Cooperation through the CVE/081 Program.

Brava City Council, as a partner, remodeled and transferred a space that is now functioning as a production unit. The investments made and in progress reflect our vision in favor of creating conditions for our young people, offering them opportunities to have their own businesses. This is something unprecedented at Brava, a very structuring project that includes the training part, the provision of space, the allocation of materials and equipment necessary for the production unit, and the direct empowerment of 17 young beneficiaries of the project, 15 of whom are female and 2 male, belonging to Furna, Fajã d´Água and Lomba Tantum.

This date marks a turning point and a new dynamic in the fishing sector and in products derived from fish processing, which these young people are, from now on, placing on the market. This project, and the success of this business that is benefiting these young and women heads of families, must count, firstly, on their strong engagement and sense of responsibility, but we must all support Bravenses by buying their products. We are still in the initial phase of production but we will work to reach the level where we envisioned. This afternoon, the beneficiaries of the project presented 7 products of very good quality: Family hamburger with oats; Hamburger; esmoregal sausage; Chorizo de esmoregal; Croquet; smoked tuna; Esmoregal ham. The public present was very satisfied with the quality of the products presented and with the organization of the event.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was present at this event, and also thank Cooperativa de Pesca de Lomba Tantum for their collaboration, Mrs. Councilwoman Ivone Cardoso and ladies Sara Rodrigues and Sónia Pereira for their help in the organization. We also thank the contractor CVQUALI, all the trainers who worked on this project over the years, the members of the Local Network, the Project Manager João José Delgado and everyone involved in the project.
