Mayor of Brava on visit to the United States strengthens ties with the diaspora

In a press release issued to the media, the municipality highlighted the results already achieved as part of the trip, stressing that the visit's main purpose is to "strengthen ties with our diaspora".

During his stay, the Bravense mayor met with members of the Associação Escola Materna Nossa Senhora da Graça, in New Bedford, one of the most representative community centers of the Bravense presence in the region. The meeting was marked by moments of sharing and reflection on the importance of keeping cultural roots alive and of continuing to foster unity between the island and its children scattered around the world.

Various issues were addressed relating to the fundamental contribution of the emigrant community to the development of Brava, from social and cultural support to economic investment. The municipality also stressed the need to create new bridges of cooperation, capable of transforming emotional ties into concrete projects that bring direct benefits to the island.

The City Council recognized the active and decisive role of the Bravense diaspora, describing it as "a vital force for the economic, social and cultural growth of the island".

"Brava lives in every Bravense, wherever they are," the note says, underlining the municipality's commitment to continue working side by side with the emigrant community, ensuring that the island's development is a collective effort, shared between those who live on the land and those who, even at a distance, keep the connection to their origins alive.
