Mayor of São Filipe calls for national and international solidarity to face the state of calamity in the municipality
The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, received this afternoon the mayor of San Filippo, Nuias Silva, who leads a diplomatic front to raise resources to face the extensive damage caused by the rains of July, August and, above all, September 7th and which , according to a report presented today to the Head of State, exceeds 100 thousand contos.
Silva is grateful for the Government's decision to declare a State of Calamity, but which is "manifestly insufficient" given the scale of the damage. However, he leaves a guarantee that he will not rest "until full normality is restored" in the municipality, and wants to count on the PR, the Government, Cape Verdeans on the Islands and in the Diaspora, he who arrived today from a mission a week to the United States.
Likewise, São Filipe also wants to count on the solidarity of the International Community, which is why he took advantage of his one-day visit to the city of Praia to contact the various diplomatic representations residing in the country's capital.
