Reconstruction of Nossa Senhora do Monte Church, Brava: Seeking Financial Support through GoFundMe
The Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte, in Brava, Cape Verde, is being rebuilt after decades of wear and tear and structural problems and is seeking support from the community.
Brava, Cape Verde - The historic Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte, located in Brava, Cape Verde, is in the process of complete renovation after facing decades of wear and tear and structural problems. With a legacy dating back to the 1860s, the church has witnessed christenings, weddings and other important events in the lives of local residents for over a century and a half.
The iconic structure that took 65 years to build has become a symbol of the Bravense community. However, due to advancing time and adverse weather conditions, the building reached a critical state, needing not only a renovation, but a complete reconstruction. 
The estimated cost to rebuild the Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte is approximately US $500,000. To date, the parish, led by Father Bernardino (Boboy), has raised over $100,000 for the project. However, to cover the remaining balance and complete the rebuild, they launched a campaign on GoFundMe, a crowdfunding platform.
For the Bravenses and all those who have ties with the Parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte, the church represents a sacred place where many precious memories were made over generations. Baptisms, first communions, weddings and other important moments in life took place in this historic space.
The fundraising campaign on GoFundMe is a call for solidarity from the local community, as well as Cape Verdeans and friends of Bravenses around the world. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, is valued and makes a difference in the journey to rebuild the Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte.
Father Boboy and his team are confident in the generosity of the people and the strength of the Bravense community. They believe that, by coming together, it is possible to achieve the goal of rebuilding this iconic church that has served as a center of worship for Brava and its communities for so many years. 
Importantly, "Our Lady of the Mount Fund Raising Charity Foundation Inc" is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which means that donations made to this cause are 100% tax deductible as per IRS guidelines.
The reconstruction of the Church of Nossa Senhora do Monte is not only an architectural undertaking, but also a collective effort to preserve the history, culture and heritage of the island of Brava. Through this project, the community seeks to ensure that future generations can continue to create memories within the walls of this sacred site.
