The vessel "Djabraba" has already been registered on international maritime monitoring platforms, raising expectations that it may be the ship recently announced by the Cape Verdean government to provide a regular connection between the Brava and Fogo islands.

According to AIS (Automatic Identification System) data, the vessel DJABRABA, identified by IMO 8107074 and MMSI 617146000, is currently in the port of Bergen, Norway, where it was located on June 1, 2026. The ship is registered under the Cape Verdean flag and is listed in international registers as a cruise-type passenger vessel.

The information available indicates that the ship was built in 1982, is about 26 meters long, 5 meters wide and has a cargo capacity of approximately 25 tons.

The presence of the name "Djabraba" in international maritime navigation systems comes after Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva announced the acquisition of a vessel to strengthen maritime connectivity between Brava and Fogo. On the occasion, the head of government stressed the importance of the new vessel in improving the mobility of passengers and goods, responding to a long-standing demand from the Bravenses.

While the authorities have not yet officially confirmed that the vessel currently registered corresponds to the ship announced by the government, the coincidence of the name and the registration under the Cape Verdean flag are elements that reinforce the possibility that it is the same vessel.

If this connection is made, the ship "Djabraba" will represent an important reinforcement for inter-island maritime transport, helping to reduce Brava's isolation and promote greater economic and social integration between the two islands.

Brava News will continue to follow the process and await official information on the arrival of the vessel and the start of operations on the Brava-Fogo-Brava route.
