TACV clarifies technical incident with aircraft and rejects undue associations

TACV clarified this Tuesday the details related to the technical malfunction recorded on May 3 involving aircraft D4-CCI, a Boeing 737-700, stressing that all decisions taken strictly followed international operational safety protocols.

According to the airline, the aircraft was scheduled to operate flight VR640, en route Praia - São Vicente - Paris, with departure scheduled for 08:00, when a technical anomaly was identified before take-off. In view of the situation, the flight was canceled and the aircraft declared AOG (Aircraft on Ground), being grounded for technical inspection and resolution of the occurrence.

TACV said that, for safety reasons, all passengers were disembarked and given assistance on the ground, including hotel accommodation, as part of the contingency procedures put in place by the carrier.

As a direct consequence of the unavailability of the aircraft, flight VR641, on the Paris - São Vicente - Praia route, scheduled for May 4, was also canceled.

However, the company clarified that flight VR690, on the Praia - Providence route, which took place on the same day, ran normally and without any operational impact related to the malfunction. TACV explained that this flight was operated by another aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX8.

In the statement, the company rejected "any attempts to unduly associate" the episode with alleged systemic failures, arguing that the decision to ground the aircraft was a preventive and responsible measure, in line with the best practices of international civil aviation.

The company also reiterated that the safety of passengers, crew and equipment remains an absolute priority, guaranteeing that it will continue to provide information "with transparency and responsibility".
