International aid will be channeled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), allowing food, hygiene kits and emergency relief items to be delivered to families in critical situations.

Also on August 18, the New Hampshire Air National Guard - as part of its State Partnership Program with Cape Verde - delivered several pallets of supplies to the country. The shipment included personal protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, isolation gowns and disinfectant wipes, as well as medical supplies, clothing and hygiene products donated by the Cape Verdean American Medical Society.

"We are closely monitoring the devastation caused by the storm and are deeply concerned about all those affected," said the Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires, Mark Weinberg. According to the diplomat, the priority is to ensure that aid reaches the most affected communities quickly and effectively, in conjunction with the Cape Verdean government and the IFRC.

With this action, the United States is reinforcing its commitment to support Cape Verde in its humanitarian response efforts, with the aim of saving lives, reducing suffering and meeting the urgent needs of the most vulnerable populations.
