Brave: MpD MP warns of constraints on the Lomba Tantum cable car.

Ivone Cardoso, speaking to Inforpress after a working visit to Brava Island, accompanied by the elected municipal official and leader of the MpD group in the Brava Municipal Assembly, highlighted that the current Prime Minister had publicly announced that the cable car repair would be completed within 27 days, a deadline which, she stated, was not met.

The MP added that after the work was completed, problems arose that led the local authority to shut down the equipment, and the constraints for the fishing community have remained ever since.

According to the parliamentarian, the situation demands an urgent solution, considering the importance of the cable car for transportation and the daily activities of the fishermen and fishmongers of Lomba Tantum.

During her visit to the community, Ivone Cardoso also spoke with residents about the situation of the fishing cooperative, gathering expressions of discontent regarding the organization's shutdown.

“The situation is related, among other aspects, to the lack of coordination with local authorities, a circumstance that, according to reports, has contributed to the emergence of conflicts between members and non-members and to the disorganization of the organization,” declared Ivone Cardoso.

The MP highlighted the role the cooperative has been playing in supporting the fisheries sector and the development of the community, hence the need to find solutions to the constraints affecting the organization and the fishing community.

The working visit also focused on other projects considered crucial for the island's development, namely the desalination plant and the Nova Sintra Health Center.

Regarding the desalination plant project, considered strategic for reinforcing the availability of water for consumption and agriculture, the delegation was informed that the excess of manganese in the water requires the installation of a new device, specifically a chemical filter that uses reagents to absorb this element.

The equipment has already been purchased and is expected to arrive in November, while work is underway to adapt the space intended for the installation of the filter, with completion scheduled for December.

In Nova Sintra, the parliamentarian also visited the Health Center, whose construction, according to Ivone Cardoso, was left unfinished by the previous government and remained paralyzed for some time before being recently resumed.

Cardoso considered that water and health are two fundamental pillars for the development of Brava, and therefore works in these sectors should be treated "as a priority and completed as quickly as possible".
